The rain may be good for the garden, but getting wet in a shower is not great for gardeners.  So, we’ve worked with leading hat makers Failsworth and British wax cotton experts Halley Stevensons to develop the Genus Showerproof Gardening Hat.

The Silkwax finish on the fabric gives an incredibly high level of water resistance that will keep showers at bay.  Unlike other wet-wax finishes the Silkwax maintains its clean look even with wear and has less visible cracking, keeping the natural characteristics of cotton to the fore.  The fabric is naturally breathable and the wax adjusts to ambient temperature, becoming softer/more breathable in warm weather and stiffer/more wind proof in cooler conditions.  Waxed cotton is renowned for its durability and performance.  Your hat can be reproofed to keep up performance and protection levels, ensuring it will last for many years.

The hat is designed with a stiffened, wide brim to shield you from the elements, yet the brim can be fastened to the crown out of the way when needed.  We’ve added a drawcord that you can wear either under your chin or behind your head to secure the hat on a windy day.  For extra comfort the hat is lined with a breathable cotton lining with a soft fleece band around the head and to soften the top of the hat, the reinforcement pad in the crown can be removed via a secret pocket inside.
